Who would have thought that January would pass so quickly despite yet another lockdown? I definitely am glad to see the end of that winter though. Let’s start by catching up on all the news we released in the January blog.

We have managed to get a supply of candles and melts to the lovely Emma of The Art Room. She is very kindly offering click and collect or a delivery service whilst we remain in this difficult version of lockdown. Pop over to her Facebook page to have a look at all the amazing products she offers. We are hoping to sort out stock with The Boathouse very soon!

The new scent has not progressed as yet as I might have got a little distracted and jumped ahead four or five steps onto a different project, more of that later! The diffusers are STILL in testing, this is GREAT news as it means they have passed the 8 week mark. I’ll be speaking to the testers this week in the hopes that we can get moving with some of them very shortly. For branding I’m thinking as least invasive as possible, maybe the label tied around the neck so that the beautiful bottle is the focus when it’s in your home. All thoughts or comments welcome.

The Valentine’s Day rose gold tins have proven to be very popular with Merse selling out almost immediately. We still have some of the other scents in stock but a few of them are down to single figures. If you’re hoping to snatch one, get in there quick.

January has been a busy one with lots of good news to share. As you’ll see from the images at the top we have teamed up with Ecologi to make Caerlaverock Candles carbon positive. We know that our rural location means a lot of our supplies have to travel a great distance to get to us, impacting on our environment. To offset this we have joined forces with Ecologi who will plant 22 trees a month to offset this carbon impact. They will also plant a tree for every order that is placed through our website. This is really exciting for us, the environment is so important and needs to be protected at every step. You can keep track of our forest here.

You might be looking at that middle image and wondering if being in the house too long has finally got to us! This is the project that sneaked up the list. We are very excited to announce that we will be offering a range of greetings cards. Not just any greetings cards, these tick every box of our recyclable, vegan ethos. The printer we are using is fully accredited by The Vegan Society, the first in the UK to be done so. From inks to the glue they seal their packages with no animal products have been used in any stage of their manufacturing. The card itself has been made from recycled materials, in a previous life it could have been a toilet roll, a newspaper or a train ticket. It does not have the same shiny coating on the surface that some greetings cards have as it skips a processing stage. This is to ensure that the card will be fully recyclable once again or will compost. There are 10 in our range just now but if they prove popular we might look into expanding this.

We want to offer you the full gift experience and we hope this brings us a step closer. We are now working on a way to add messages to these cards in your own handwriting in the hopes we can post your parcel directly to the recipient but you’ll have ‘written’ the card.

The luxury essential oils have arrived for Mother’s Day, the melts are curing and our hessian bags are ready for personalising. I’ll save that for another blog edition next week though.

Keep safe x
